where your dreams collide, push your faith aside.

James Ellroy always talks about his dead mother
and the steps he takes to conjure her.

at least she existed at one point

because I'm trying to create someone
who never really existed
outside of the sweet things she'd whisper
on nights when I'd shake in my sleep
and hope that something would be the same
in the morning.

it's harder to write fiction than non-fiction
because all you have to create everything

but I created you, didn't I?
and I did a damn good job

and it's a shame you had to go and fuck it up
by being who you always were.
